Today, Sunday, we had a fine relaxing day in a nice park. Laying in the sun reading a book, children playing, having a delicious pick nick afterwards.
One said: “Smell the fresh air.”.
The other lit up a cigarette and said: “We should do this more often.”.

Eco is still hot. Daily Eco Tips provides you with a new tip every day (hence the name). Might be good to remind us all about how important it is for our small earth that becomes lesser green.
Having served a tip every day by rss, for those that use an rss reader, would not harm anyone.

Just being back from holiday – which I spent in the south of Spain in a small beach town (city) called Nerja, some 60 km from Malaga – and Live Earth being behind us I wanted to say something about global warming. It seems, when I was laying on the beach, that whenever someone leaves on holiday, they leave their good intentions at home.
Knowing that almost the entire southern Spanish coastline is jammed with tourists, most people don’t even take the smallest effort to keep this earth clean. Some examples:
- empty soda cans left in the sand;
- cigarettes butts littered by the thousands;
- ice-cream papers get dumped at any place;
- people use the car to drive 1 km to the beach (while public transport is at hand at extremely cheap prices);
- since food isn’t that expensive, people order too much and leave at least 30% of it untouched;
Do people trow away empty cans in their own garden, dump whatever wrap on the kitchen floor, put out cigarettes on any place in the house, and cook to much food so it ends up in the bin?
Such a shame. (sorry for lecturing)

Funny movie where extraterrestrials are trying to decide wetter to invest in our planet or not. They are argumenting at a round table conference giving pro’s and contra’s. Funny.
One clear point they mention is that 90% of the Eartlings are trying to save the planet and the other 10% owns the planet and consider themselves as the ones that decide what becomes of us. We are going down the toilet.
Is on the Dutch Greenpeace website but they speak English.

Steve Howard (CEO, The Climate Group) states:
“Climate change threatens to reshape our future for the worse. It is clear that time is running out to take on the most important challenge facing humanity managing and controlling the climate change that is already under way. It already touches every corner of the planet and every aspect of peoples lives. As our global temperature increases, its impacts will become even more extreme.
To illustrate this NorthSouthEastWest commissioned 10 of the world’s top photographers to bring together, in a single volume, what is happening in diverse countries and conditions around the world.
NorthSouthEastWest tells the story of these places; ice-caps, mega-cities, rice fields, townships, islands, forests and much more. It deals with the threats that millions face to their food supplies, fresh water, health, culture and even the existence of their countries. But it also details a range of solutions that may stave off the worst of the crisis. There are big and small ideas, some simple, others technically complex, but all part of the battle to stop climate change getting out of hand.”

Onya Bags
Some key figures:
- 17.5 billion plastic bags are handed out by the 9 main supermarkets in the UK, annually!
- The amount of petroleum used, to make these 17.5 billion bags, van make a car drive for 2.1 billion kilometers!!
- 15 to 1000 years to break down!
- Most of the plastic bags end up on the street, in parks, on beaches.
- Only 1 in 200 is recycled.
- An estimate of 5% are being re-used.
- Did not mention the amount of deaths among animal, due to plastic bags in oceans, forests, …
The solution: Onya bags! This bag comes with a pouch and becomes your key chain, so you always have it with you. You can stuff one bag in the pouch wich you carry with you all the time. So you use only one bag instead of taking a new one each time you do groceries.
