… and all the best for 2010 for all of you and your families!!
My wishes:
- continuing to be a good and proud father as I think I am;
- continue to love my girlfriend (and don’t follow the trend of divorces);
- having nice projects at work and having understanding customers (as they always are);
- something that comes back for the past 7 years now … move abroad again;
- read some more books;
- undergo the technological evolution as never before;
- stay healthy;
- keep my promise to run a half marathon with Steven (@minorissues).
With the movie 2012 and the prediction of the end of the world based upon the Mayan calculations we have some old and new things that rise to the surface: Nostradamus comes back in the picture, the end of the world discussions, climate change (which is a good discussion) and Mayan calculations.
Regarding this last item, Mayan calculations, I received a video from a friend and it left me standing with my mouth wide open. Multiplications for which we use electronic calculators, can actually be solved in a far more easier way. See for yourself.
The short movie below, A Thousand Words from Ted Chung reminds me of the time I used to live in São Paulo. São Paulo, being one of the 5 largest cities in the world has about 20 million inhabitants.
One day a friend of mine said to me: “Never miss a chance to say hi, it might be your one and only chance in this huge city.“. The movie below made me think of that line.
Real life is important. To me the image on the left (click to enlarge) is telling not to walk by so easily. Pay attention, mind details, say hello, greet, smile, … . Go outside once in a while and discover new things in real life.
A woman’s brain must be very complex. Heck we might even generate power out of it. sorry about the misplaced joke but please have a look at the picture below.
Well, I am going to keep it short. I did not jump. Call me a sissy if you like. I climbed up the ridge, faced the dept and just couldn’t do it. I have some video’s and pictures which will be posted later.
Let’s start by saying I am afraid of heights. Not just a little but a lot. Terrifying.
This evening I am heading to France, Grenoble to be accurate, to jump of the Ponsonnas Bridge. With a height of 103m (337.9 ft) it’s my worst nightmare. But colleagues convinced me to go and bungee jump.
For a few days now I am encouraging myself by telling the fall only takes 5 seconds. What’s 5 seconds if I tell you the trip by bus takes about 11 hours. Hope there is enough beer to get my mind set off the height. We’ll see what happens when I am on the ridge.
