… everything you ever seen
… everything you ever done
… everything you ever loved
…
I recently saw the trailer in the movie theater and I loved it. Puppets are great. Muppets are great. These creatures are huge and I want to see them. Can’t wait to see the movie.
One of my nice discoveries from a little while ago: Gui Boratto. I bought his most recent album Take my Breath away and I can say it will get me through the summer. It’s a fantastic album filled with fine minimal techno music. If you don’t know Gui Boratto then listen carefully to the radio, you might have heard one of his tracks called Beautiful Life. It’s a song that sticks, one that makes you turn up the volume, makes you smile and if it would last 5 hours keeps you dancing for 6.
Recently I saw him play at the Kompakt Sonar Party at Nitsa (Barcelona) during the Sonar week. A great night opened by GusGus, followed by an über fantastic Gui Boratto and a perfect Superpitcher to end the night and start the morning.
If you get a chance to see him perform and your are into minimal techno, do not hesitate to check this guy out.
More about Gui Boratto and other fine artists like The Field, Superpitcher, Rex the Dog can be found on the Kompakt website.
I am a big fan of Pandora.com. But they stopped their service for people living outside the U.S. for over a year now, if not 2 years. But recently I discovered Grooveshark. This service has similar features and works fine for me. I can choose an artist or song I like and Grooveshark makes the recommendations. Of course there are other great features such as one of them called the “create a mix”-feature.
Grooveshark has been around for quite some time but I only found about them a short while ago. Hope they can keep their service up and running for non-U.S. inhabitants.
Before last month I had never heard of the band Holy Fuck. While attending the Pukkelpop festival a few weeks ago, a friend of mine told to to check them out. And gladly I did. What an energy these guys have on stage. Better to call it an experimental explosion. Check them out in a venue near you. It’s a recommendation!
I have their latest album ‘LP’ which is my second favorite after MGMT’s Oracular Spectacular (thanks Kris). Buy, heck buy them both.
My favorite track on the album for sure is ‘The Pulse‘.
Today I stumbled upon this pretty fun website called Quest for the Rest from The Polyphonic Spree on which they present their album ‘Together we’re heavy’.
The goal is to find your way through the site and reach level 4. A little thinking is necessary to find out what you need to do to get the characters moving. If you pay attention to the smallest details it’s easy to get them going.
Well done if you ask me. Anyone an idea about who might have made this site?
With the sun starting to shine over Belgium people start to talk about summer festivals. Also friends keep sending me mails about which festivals I am planning to attend next summer.
One of them has send me a great video of the Roskilde Festival in Denmark. A great festival which I attended 1O times. It’s a recommendation to go there. Friendly people, an excellent program, good food & drinks, … , but it’s a survival of the fittest. The festival itself lasts for 4 days but people arrive a week before door actually open.
Here is the video to get you started.
A few years ago I traded the Roskilde Festival for Sonar Off (side events during the actual Sonar festival) in Barcelona. Excellent as well.
A while ago I wrote about Songza, your online jukebox. Here’s Zetrax, a Songza lookalike if you ask me. ZeTrax has a clean look and feel, search functionality and a playlist. Simple, nothing more, nothing less and it works fine.
ConvertTube converts your YouTube files (hence the name) into different file types as there are: mp3 (!!), mp4, mpg, mov, … . I like the mp3 option although you can only convert one file every 13 minutes.
I have noticed the domain is for sale. Specs can be found on Sedo.com.
