This is now!

The Now network from Sprint. My first impression was wow. A colleague mentioned it’s been around for a while. Still it is a great concept.

Turn on the sound and listen to the facts and actions that occur now. Also pay attention to some small details like construction workers running over the screen. Or hover over a video to watch it and hover over the speakers to hear music. There are too many details to mentions. Experience the Now Network yourself.

It’s all about perception

Posted by claudio.capo on May 10th, 2009

Today, Sunday, we had a fine relaxing day in a nice park. Laying in the sun reading a book, children playing, having a delicious pick nick afterwards.

One said: “Smell the fresh air.”.

The other lit up a cigarette and said: “We should do this more often.”.

What are we doing at Nascom?

Posted by claudio.capo on April 30th, 2009

About a month ago I joined Nascom. What do we do? Great things. Watch the 2009 show reel and decide for yourself.

This is a re-post of Steven’s post “What are we doing at Nascom?” on minnorissues.be. Steven is a colleague that joined Nascom a little while before me.

ClickAir: do you read me?

Posted by claudio.capo on April 10th, 2009

This is an open letter to the people from the airline company ClickAir.

Reason for this letter is that I already filled out the form on their website with a question to transfer my flight. The first time I filled out the form was on March 6, ‘over’ a month ago. The second time was 2 days ago. I received a simple standard automated message but no solution so far. What concerns me most is that I am willing to pay for the transfer.

Is this customer service? Oh, and it’s impossible to call customer service from Belgium.

The letter:

Dear Sir/Madam,

On March 6, already ‘over 1 month ago’, I filled out a form on your website regarding a question to transfer my flight. I did NOT get an answer yet. Talking about customer service here??

I will try again.

Can you change my flight from XG 1341 to VY 5211? Please let me know what the extra costs are.

Extra info:
I received an e-mail that the hours of my flight (XG 1341) have changed from a morning flight to an evening flight. What I don’t understand is that you still have another flight in the morning. How come you did not offer people to change flight. I loose an entire day because of your decision. Now I need to pay an extra transfer fee to get on this morning flight (VY 5211).

Thank you,
Claudio Capodifoglia

Update (14/04/2009)
Via this way I want to say thank you to ClickAir’s customer service. They do read. Maybe they have technical difficulties with their web platform but they do track online conversations.

I heart Antwerp

Posted by claudio.capo on April 5th, 2009

It’s been about 5 years now that I live in this great city called Antwerp. At first I traveled around a it and lived in many other cities. But Antwerp is special. It’s a city near a river, the Schelde with a great industry and one of the biggest harbors in the world.

It’s also one of the places where you can find great fashion designers as there are Walter Van Beirendonck, Ann Demeulemeester, Dries Van Noten, and many other.

But most Antwerp is the capitol of diamonds. Near the central station you can find many shops that sell these precious stones.

What makes Antwerp worth visiting is because the city center is so compact. As good as everything can be found ((bars, restaurants, hotels, movie theater, …) within walking distance or can be reached by easy accessible public transport.

Here’s a list of links with info or things worth visiting/seeing:

If you like shopping, please do visit the great website “Antwerp is the new Paris” which has a long long list of places for the shop-a-holic.

But the main reason for this post is that the company I work for, Nascom, has a campaign running (European Top Spots competition) for Club Vaio. All you need to do is register and define what makes your city special. There are several categories available for which you can add your favorites. If you participate you are in the running of winning a Vaio P Series notebook and a city trip.

If you digg Antwerp, please vote for one of the suggestions. Else please register and participate to support your own city.

Coupons & Loyalty cards

First. We Belgians adore coupons and loyalty cards. Almost every inhabitant in Belgium has at least 3 or more cards. Not even to mention the coupons we receive by daily mail, tens or hundreds.

So the other day when I had to visit several stores - stores or gas stations I very often frequent - I thought about taking my loyalty cards. Normally I keep them in the car or in my wallet but I left them at home on the cupboard. But it made me think while I was driving to get my things.

Why can’t we have just 1 card?
I agree when people say that 1 card can’t be brand related, do not have the corporate identity printed on it. But who cares? Once you collect your points, an text message can, for example be sent, thanking the person for his purchase. Or send an e-mail with an overview of the collected points (some already do). Or like most of the stores have a myStore section in which you can customize settings and get an overview of your recent purchases and collected points.

How is this technically possible?
RFID? Bar code?
Maybe it already exists but wouldn’t it be a great opportunity to have a solution like OpenID which has a solution for single sign-on purposes. Why can’t this idea be used? On ID per person to collect loyalty points and have the opportunity to send targeted coupons (coupons that will be used). This way users can easily connect to a store, a brand or service for which he wants to collect his valuable points. This shouldn’t be hard to accomplish, is it?

YOOSE
Via some stumbling and going from profile to profile on Twitter I came across YOOSE. YOOSE has a mobile solution to collect loyalty points and coupons. I think this is a great solution. Only will not every one be able to use this service unless MMS would become suddenly very popular I guess. Else a PDA with extra features such as an internet connection would be essential to get your lists from an online service (a service such as the great Evernote). Then again 3G is very expensive in Belgium. Surrounding countries are manageable. But in-store free WIFI can be made available at low cost to get your coupons, shopping lists and send and get your loyalty points.

Then again, I think this could work. Here I have my ‘1 loyalty card’ solution. All available on my mobile which I carry along at all times. YOOSE is still in under development and I even don’t know when and where they will launch.

Aero - Feel The Bubbles

Mint Aero bar, as sold in the UK (September 2006)

Image via Wikipedia

Today I came across a pretty cool ad for Nestlé ’s Aero chocolate bar. It’s all about bubbles. Pretty obvious if you know (or don’t know) Aero is a tasty chocolate bar filled with lots of air bubbles.

The campaign is about skateboarding and balloons showing the experience of eating the bubbles in an Aero bar. In the ad you can see Bob Burnquist in action. Bob Burnquist, being one of the greater boarders out there, really seems to have fun.

Make sure to look at the making of as well.

Really a very nice ad made by JWT London focusing on a younger audience using skateboarders and fun music (Jacksons).

Beate Uhse, Child Lock. You will see it, your child won´t.

Posted by claudio.capo on February 24th, 2009

Focus on adults but pay attention to children. I really like what Kempertrautmann has created for Beate Uhse. A TV ad that makes use of a Rorschach Inkblot alike test. Adults will notice the subtle details which then slowly morph to a child friendly drawing.
